The World’s eyes were on [team 18] as they traveled to the Amex Stadium to face [team 78]. There was a lot of excitement among the fans surrounding the new names in the Chelsea side. However, only two new signings made their competitive debut as [player 31823] and [player 32612] started the game. Other new signings didn’t travel with the squad due to injury issues.

[coach 452683]’s side were not the favorites coming into the game for obvious reasons. Still, given Chelsea‘s defensive problems, Brighton were not totally out of it.

Performance of the two German debutants

Timo Werner started in the no.9 position and had an effective first half. He won the penalty for Chelsea‘s first goal, which was scored by Jorginho. His pace was in behind looked effective and threatening and. The 24-year-old looked sharp and made clever runs in the channels. Werner was quite in the second half and looked isolated for most parts. However, as a debut game, he did enough to bring optimism among the fans.

Kai Havertz started as a right-winger and was poor throughout the game. The player known for his silky dribbling completed just one dribble. A hefty price tag brings pressure, and its a bit too early to judge a played whose potential is enormous. He will have to work hard to get used to the intensity of the [league 8]. However, a more central role would suit him more from a tactical perspective.

Brighton’s overall performance

Brighton‘s performance last night was an encouraging one. Once again, Graham Potter stuck to his philosophy of keeping the ball, which was effective up to an extent. However, the penalty which led to the first goal happened because of overplaying in the midfield. Eventually, [player 14069] gave the ball away. Still, their game in possession was effective and progressive vertically.

Former Chelsea player [player 9308200] was Brighton‘s best player. He was a constant threat down the right side with his runs in behind. His deliveries into the box were also excellent.

Overall, the lack of quality in the final third cost Brighton the game as their chances creation was good.

Chelsea’s neverending issues at the back

According to various Pundits, [coach 95]’s side were lucky to get the three points. They were all over the place while facing counter-attacks. Their pressing was ineffective, and the midfield lacked robustness to protect the back four. [player 95792]’s arrival will have a positive effect, but still, there are worrying signs already.

[player 186606] couldn’t have started the season any poorly. The Spaniard was again at fault in the only goal Chelsea conceded. His starting position was horrendously wrong, and the ball almost went through his hands in the back of the net. Yesterday’s performance will push Frank Lampard to buy a new goalkeeper.
