What did Ziyech say?
“I’ve never had a coach who has been like this – the coaches most of the time were more quiet.
“But this is his style of managing – and we have no problems with it. It’s good for the players, it keeps them sharp. That’s the most important thing.
“Most of the time when we are playing he’s also really in it with us. Emotionally-wise, sometimes it’s good – but sometimes you are also like ‘ooh, calm down’ – but it’s good for everybody.
“He has come in with new ideas, new plans. He is always coming over to the group in training, it’s really good. Everybody understands, and everybody knows what his job is, and it works.
“He loves to laugh, but always wants us to work hard. Then we can have fun, but when there has to be work then it has to be serious. Sometimes he likes to joke, but sometimes he’s serious.”
The 28-year-old added, “It’s been a difficult season for me, with adaption and everything around injuries. When I came, I’d been out for seven months, so adapting to the intensity was difficult. Sometimes you think you have the rhythm, and then you have a setback. So it took some time. I just have to keep working.
“I always believe in myself. I just keep pushing. We have all had our time to settle – for us now it’s time to perform.”
Why is Ziyech struggling under Tuchel?
A lot of has been made about the system that [coach 523937] has implemented at [team 18]. It’s the kind of system that does not bring the best out of Ziyech’s skillset. The Moroccan international has played some minutes under Tuchel. Still, his new role under his new boss might take some time for [player 24288] to get used to.
So far in his career, Ziyech has played his best football from the right-wing, for [team 629] and for Chelsea. He hugs the touchline, and when he collects the ball, he either comes inside or plays a brilliantly weighted pass to the overlapping full-back. Whenever he picks the ball in that zone, he is threatening and is almost unplayable at times. A lot of this was witnessed earlier this season under [coach 95] when Ziyech was in his best Chelsea form and had a superbly effective partnership with [player 581220] on that right side. During that time, Chelsea were having a great season, and so was he. The blues were in the mix of a title race, and Ziyech was a crucial part of their running.
However, then injury issues came across, and a poor run of results resulted in the sacking of Lampard. Since Tuchel’s arrival, Ziyech has played in the front three in a 3-4-3, which is more like a 3-4-2-1. He either plays in the inside right channel, or the inside left one. Here, he struggles to find space, and most of his passes go backwards instead of going forward.
Lately, he has produced a few good performances, and with time, we might his form return in his new position. It’s hard for any player to get going in the [league 8]. It’s a League where foreign players need some time to get settled due to its extreme physicality and high competitiveness.
Maybe next season will be the right time to judge him completely with the club hoping to win the [league 2] and finish in the top four. Along with that, they also have an [league 2] semi-final against [team 9] to look forward to tonight (fixture details: [fixture 17945970] ).
A rough season so far could end strongly if Tuchel manages to win at least one trophy out of the two and finish in the top four.
