What did Barnett say?
Speaking to the SNTV, Jonathan Barnett said, “The truth is we don’t know (what will happen).
“There are many clubs (interested) and I wouldn’t put Manchester United at the top of that (list).
“But he could stay.
“He could stay as well so it’s a conversation the club, Aston Villa, will have with Jack and ourselves then we’ll see where we go.”
Barnett also said recently on Sky Sports about Grealish: “He loves Villa but I think we just have to wait and see how things pan out.
“At the moment he is a Villa player and he has no thoughts about anything else.
“He could be a big star in the summer, he maybe should have been playing a little bit earlier for England.
“It is unfortunate that he has got this injury at the moment but that will be fine.
“The only hope is he is given a chance and he will be great.”
The bigger picture
[player 1116]’s time to leave [team 15] and step up to a bigger club has arrived. At 25 years old, the Englishman is at the perfect age for any top club to sign him with his peak years about to arrive.
His performances for Villa for a few seasons now have been exceptional. Especially for the last two seasons in the [league 8]. Last season, Villa stayed up on the last matchday due to a critical Grealish goal against [team 1]. This season, Aston Villa have been outstanding as the club could finish in the top half with a few games left.
Grealish has suffered from injury issues this season. Although, when he was fit, he was arguably the League’s best player. His performances in that iconic 7-2 win against [team 8] was magnificent. He has 6 goals and 10 assists in 22 appearances this season before he picked up the injury.
Since his injury, Villa have struggled for results. They did win a few games recently, but their form took a massive drop-off. They play at a lower intensity without him, and their ball movement is also not as effective.
If not [team 14], there will be a host of top clubs eager to sign him. Grealish is one of [team 18645]’s finest talents and could be his nation’s main man along with [player 997] for the [league 1326] in the summer.
