Klopp advises Morton to not model his gameplay on Fabinho

What did Jurgen Klopp say?

While speaking to BT Sport, [coach 455353] said, “The boy’s ready.”

“He’s a smart kid, he knows. He’s very excited, nervous for sure, we’re human beings. But in the end, it’s all in his football because he’s a good footballer.

“Nobody plays the six (position) like Fabinho, so why should he? He is a brilliant player, we have to be together to make sure the spaces are small enough for him to defend really well and that’ll give him security, confidence. We have a really good ‘baller’ in that position.”

“There’s some changes we needed to make, some because of the games we’ve played, some just because of tonight,” he said. “I like the lineup a lot, I like the bench a lot. We have the most experienced bench I’ve ever had at Liverpool probably. We can (make substitutions) five times we’ll do that. I really hope we can play a good game.”

What did Tyler Morton say after the Porto game?

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said, “Them two ([player 850] and Thiago) were quality with me. I can’t speak more highly of them because of how they took me into their stride.”

“It’s not easy having a 19-year-old lad come in and play with them, especially behind them and trust in them.

“I felt I got a lot of trust from them and I was really happy with that and the way they speak to me is improving me every day.”

He further added, “I didn’t find out until yesterday (Tuesday) that I was fully playing, but I’m ready whenever.”

“If I’m on the bench or I’m playing, I’m ready whenever so I’ll take every game as I’m starting, to be honest.

“I’m not unbelievably experienced in the No. 6 but I am experienced at other levels, not the first team, and coming in it always takes time to adapt.

“I adapted well to the game and I thought as it went on I got better and I was happy with the performance.”

“Genuinely, every minute. I loved every minute of it, especially walking out and looking up and seeing everyone and clapping the fans at the end.

“That’s what I’m here for and that’s where I’m striving for and to get applause at the end off all the fans, that’s what I want and why I want to play for this club.”

How is Morton different to Fabinho?

Before getting into this explanation, I want to clarify that [player 96099] is the best in the world in his position. His influence on [team 8]’s success has been massive. Of course, Morton is not better than Fabinho but has shown that he is got terrific potential.

First of all, Morton is a completely different style of player to Fabinho. The Brazilian, in many ways, is almost the perfect number six. His reading of the game, anticipations and interceptions, positioning, passing overall football quality is superb.

Morton is a technically gifted player which sublime touches and quality passing. Due to his age, he is quite smaller, but that will change in a couple of years. Against [team 652], Morton was excellent. He anchored the midfield effectively and constantly beat the press well. When Liverpool were under pressure near their box, Morton was getting them out of danger with effective passing. The kid always wants the ball and keeps it well.

As much as I have talked about his quality on the ball, he was spot on without the ball as well. His sliding clearance in front of the Kop end was applauded by the home fans.

Overall, he is another gem that has come out of the famous Liverpool academy. With [player 323], [player 31857], [player 197], and Fabinho all in a certain age group, [player 37316836] is surely one of the stars of the next generation.
