Club legend Nicky Butt has decided to depart the red devils after nine years in coaching and player development roles in the famous [team 14] academy. Nicky Butt had a crucial role in improving the young generation in the current Man United side. Butt closely worked with some of the best talents including [player 20333643], [player 1878], [player 4391] and [player 455376].
As the whole football world knows, United’s academy has always been one of the most productive academies in Europe. Most famously, when they produced the class of 92. It involved some of the greatest footballers the world has ever seen.
Nicky Butt was a part of that golden generation of the club’s academy. The other iconic members were [player 585], [player 305], [player 96198], Nicky Butt, [coach 584] and [player 603]. All of these went on to become football’s all-time greats. Not only in the [league 8] but also for their respective national sides.
What did Nicky Butt say?
Nicky Butt said, “Having come through the Academy myself to play almost 400 games for Manchester United, it has been an absolute privilege to come back and work with a new generation of talent making that same journey.”
“I’m proud of the role everyone on the staff plays in giving our young footballers the best possible chance of fulfilling their potential, and the results are clear to see in the increased number of homegrown players reaching the first team.
“I already know from my playing days how difficult it is to leave Manchester United, but it feels like the right moment for a new professional challenge and I look forward to exploring opportunities that build on the great experiences I’ve had here over the past nine years.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjær also spoke about Nicky Butt.
First-team manager, Solskjær, who played with Nicky Butt at United, said: “Nicky will always be a legend of Manchester United as a six-time Premier League winner and, of course, an integral part of our Treble-winning team. That pedigree has made him a great source of guidance and inspiration to our Academy players since he returned to the club.
“We are all going to miss him around the Aon Training Complex, but Nicky knows he will always be welcome back.”
