Before the corona crisis was PSG expected to go through a huge squad makeover and it seems that COVID-19 made had not any significant impact on its plans. Up to 8 players might be leaving the leader of the French Ligue 1 and some of them are significant.
The “black list” starts with 4 names with ending contracts. We do not know if the player were not offered new one or the conditions were not acceptable. The French football club will in Summer 2020 most likely say goodbye to forward Edinson Cavani, defender and captain of the team Thiago Silva and two more defenders Thomas Meunier and Layvin Kurzawa.
The first information suggests that Thomas Meunier goes back to home team, Cavani might or might leave Europe and sign to a still unknown club. Thiago Silva might go back and Layvin Kurzawa… there is no good news for him.
Bad news for PSG is that these top players won’t earn them anything. In similar situations are the hosted players – Argentinian forward Mauro Icardi and the Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Rico. After the season they most likely go back to their home clubs. Ángelo Di María has a valid contract till 2021 but if PSG wants to make some money, he would have to sell him latest this summer.
Unclear is indeed the future of Neymar and Mbappé. Both players are showing clear signs to leave the team. Rumors say Mbappé might Join Real Madrid and Neymar is in love with Barcelona. PSG is not showing big will to get rid of the stars but the financial situation might force them to do so.
