Two Possible Strikers Wolves could Buy in January

[team 29] lost their first choice center forward [player 160217] through a horrible collision with Arsenal’s [player 19]. The Mexican was quickly taken to the hospital, where he recovered his awareness. Thankfully, both the players involved in the clash have since been well. It looks clear that Jimenez is a long way from recovering match fitness. In this case, Wolves have got to find a considerable replacement for their top scorer.

[player 23269679] has been tipped to fill Jimenez’s boots by some around the club, but maybe it’s a bit too early for the youngster to take a step as big as this one. The teenager is a bright talent and has enormous potential but to be the main man for a [league 8] side at the age of 18 is tremendous pressure to handle.

Wolves under Nuno like to play with a frontman capable of holding the ball and bring others into play. Along with it, the striker should be dominant in the air and a fine finisher. Let’s look at the potential strikers that Wolves can buy in January, considering the recently mentioned skill set.

Who could Wolves potentially buy?

Arkadiusz Milik

[player 25355] is a Polish international and plays for Italian club [team 597]. The 26-year-old has been a good player for Napoli since moving from Ajax. Milik is a big center forward with an excellent ability to hold the ball up and get others into play. Not the quickest, but due to his exceptional timing of the movements, at times, he gets in behind well.

With Wolves losing Jimenez, Milik could be a prominent replacement for the Mexican. Both the strikers possess strong hold-up play and supreme domination in the air, along with a consistent goal-scoring record. Milik would not only be a replacement for the time being but with his younger age, he could also be the Mexican’s potential successor.

Last season in [league 384], Milik scored 11 goals in 26 appearances (19 starts). He also won more than 50% of his aerial duels. He is the type of striker that [coach 455991] would love to have as a replacement for Jimenez. Milik’s ability to bring others into play would suit the likes of Podence, Neto, and Traore. Like Jimenez, Milik also relishes on good crosses, and that is something Wolves are good at.

Overall, Milik would be an excellent signing if they manage to get him as his skill set is very much similar to Jimenez’s. This would allow Milik to settle in quickly and Wolves to not change their way of playing massively.

Olivier Giroud

More of a short-term fix, but another quality alternative is [team 18]’s [player 798]. The 34-year-old is one of the most underrated and underappreciated players of his generation. Rightly so, as his involvement in France’s triumph in the 2018 World Cup was significant. Despite not scoring a single goal in the tournament, Deschamps consistently picked Giroud for France. It was due to his leadership and quality of bringing players like Mbappe and Griezmann into the game. In short, Giroud is the type of player with whom world-class players love to play due to his selflessness on the pitch.

Under [coach 95], Giroud has always struggled for game time, but he has been outstanding whenever he has been called upon. Last season, in Premier League 18 appearances, he scored 8 goals and had an effective goal ratio of 125 mins per goal. This season he was given only 3 starts out of his 8 appearances but still, he scored 2 goals in that time. He also scored those brilliant four goals against Sevilla in the Champions League earlier this season.

Giroud is another player who possesses many of Jimenez’s qualities and would be a better option than Milik, given Giroud’s vast Premier League experience. Not as quick as Jimenez, but intelligent and clever movements is something Giroud has always had in his locker.

Let’s see what Wolves have planned ahead of what seems to be a significant window for them.
