William Saliba confirms he will return to Arsenal from Marseille

What did William Saliba say?

Speaking to the Telefoot, William Saliba said, “I belong to Arsenal, and I still have two years there. I will be there for pre-season with Arsenal.”

“I have played zero matches with Arsenal and I want to show them what I’m made of and have the chance to play for the supporters and for this big club.

“That depends only on me. In any case, leaving (Arsenal) like that would be a shame.”

What did Arteta say about Saliba?

Last month, Arteta said, “We made the right decision.”

“He has to come back. He has the experience necessary to be competitive with us.

“If he had stayed with us this year, with one Premier League match a week, with Ben White and Gabriel, he wouldn’t have had half the playing time he had with Marseille, that’s for sure.

“For his growth and what he can do next season that wouldn’t have been good. William wasn’t with us because he wouldn’t have had the playing time to gain experience. That’s it, there’s nothing else.”

Should Arsenal Keep William Saliba?

[player 17544737] was one of the most exciting young players in the world when [team 19] confirmed his signing. He is still only 21 years old, but it feels like he is much older due to how long ago he was signed.

Last season, he had a fine season for [team 44]. He made 36 appearances in the [league 301] as he was involved in keeping 13 clean sheets. He averaged 1.3 interceptions, 1.5 tackles and 2.2 clearances per game. His stats in possession were also good. He recorded an 89% passing accuracy in the opposition half.

Arsenal’s end to this season was disappointing. However, looking at the bigger picture, this season had more positives to take away than negatives. Despite missing out on the top four, Arteta proved that this project with young players is on the right path, and it’s just a matter of time before they are back in the [league 2].

In defence for Arsenal, [player 3259] and [player 97811] formed a decent partnership. The balance of pace, power, and game reading was good, and they were great at distributing the ball. However, Gabriel could potentially leave Arsenal, which has come out as a massive surprise for Arsenal fans.

[team 625] are said to be heavily interested in the Brazilian after looking at his performances for Arsenal and his age. The depth Arteta has in that position is not great, with [player 1901] a good player but inconsistent.

Arsenal should try everything they can to keep Gabriel, but this might be the time to take Saliba seriously. He might not be as guaranteed as Gabriel in the [league 8] but has the potential to develop into a solid player in the future.

Next season, there won’t be any excuses for [coach 307] for missing out on the Champions League spots and to compete with [team 6], [team 14], [team 18] and potentially [team 20]; Arteta could be helped massively by adding some quality depth. As a result, Giving Saliba a chance and some time to flourish could work extremely well for Arsenal’s future.
