Up until now the prime for the oldest professional football club was held by [team 98] from [league 17] and new research suggests there is coming to a change.
Peter Manning reported for AFP that the oldest professional football club is most likely [team 51] which was established a year earlier.
“There is a link between a South London club that has been operating on a professional basis since 1905 and a football / cricket club founded in 1861,” said Peter Manning, who works on behalf of Crystal Palace.
“Without the Crystal Palace Company, there would never have been a Crystal Palace,” emphasized Manning.
