Would it make sense if Arsenal went for Jorginho?

What’s in the news?

According to Sky Sports, [team 7980] are confident of completing a loan deal for [player 130022] in a move that could hold the key to [team 19] chances of signing [player 186370].

Arsenal want to sell Torreira, whereas Atletico Madrid want him on a season-long loan. However, a move for the Uruguayan is still imminent, as Arsenal will include an option to make this deal permanent next year.

This saga gets bigger as Arsenal could secure the signing of their long term target Partey. The Ghana international is a prime target for [coach 307] as he looks to strengthen his midfield. Thomas Partey has a release clause of £45m, but the funds could allow Arsenal to part-fund if they get a deal for Torreira.

With the negotiations ongoing, Arsenal are looking at alternatives to Thomas Partey. The names include [team 18] Jorginho and [team 79] [player 96959].

Should Arsenal sign Jorginho?

Arsenal currently have a bunch of midfielders who are not good enough. Arteta looks reluctant to include [player 97087] in his plans. As mentioned above, Torreira seems set to leave as well. [player 186734] is the only one who looks a significant part of Arteta’s rebuilding plans. Meanwhile, [player 1887] has improved massively under new management. Still, Arsenal need a World Class midfielder who can add robustness to the side.

In that case, Thomas Partey would be an excellent signing. However, Jorginho would be a waste of money. The Italian is a brilliant passer of the ball, but his tackling is very poor. His game reading has also been costly to Chelsea, and his lack of robustness is a concern as well.

Houssem Aouar wouldn’t make sense from a defensive perspective, but otherwise, he would be excellent. However, Arsenal financial situation is not healthy, and a double move would seem out of their budget.

Overall, a move for Jorginho would be a waste of money as they have already got similar players in Xhaka and Ceballos. A move for Thomas Partey would make this Arsenal side solid in the midfield. He would provide exceptional protection to the backline with his game reading ability. If Arsenal get him, it will make them strong contenders for the top four spots.

Arsenal are in for the Italian but would it be the right move for the Gunners.
